Had Jesus not found me how lost would I be
Like a small boat adrift on a wide open sea
Had He not embraced me I never had known
A love that surpasses all humans have shown
Had He not awakened me from a death sleep
I still would be living a nightmare so deep
Had He not redeemed me from devil’s strong hold
I dare not imagine or care to be told
What I would have done, or who I’d now be
I thank you Lord Jesus, instead I can see –
A glorious purpose and wonderful plan
Begun in me now but forever to span
A love that grows greater with each passing day
That earth’s deepest sorrows cannot take away
A life in the Son where the Light is left on
And the fears of the Dark are at last dead and gone
My captor looks longingly at the old cell
Where once he tormented me fiendishly well
But since Jesus saved me, I’m not turning back
I’ve rounded the corner, I’m on a new track
The devil without me will just have to burn
To heaven I’m heading, to hell won’t return
