Poem

It Matters Not

Michael Beck

It matters not what others do
The question is: Will I serve You?
Though they turn back and fall away
Will I stay on the narrow way?

If all my kin and friends below
If sons and daughters, wife all go
If You turn worthless in their eyes
Will I press on to win the prize?

I pledge my Lord to follow on
With mind made up, and eye upon
A God so great, a Savior dear
Who’s worth more to me every year

I pray my loved ones follow too
But if they choose instead of You
A path they think is better yet
And stay thereon till they are dead

It matters not, I’m still your man
You are my God, with You I stand
No, not a single thing they do
Will ever quench my love for You
