Poem

House of Cards

Michael Beck

We may be quite convincing, all round us might agree
But if we speak our own mind, one day the world will see
The truth we cannot make up, it IS or it is not
If God’s it lasts forever, if ours it’s sure to rot
Today the crowd may cheer you, and goad you to speak out
But if the Lord’s not sent you, one day they’ll start to doubt

Before you end your journey, let go of every lie
Best now to be embarassed, than when you stand on high
For God will not take lightly, untruth that you proclaim
Especially when spoken so boldly in His name
Be careful to walk softly and fear one idle word
Add not your own opinion, make sure His voice is heard

Don’t be so quick to anger, beware your spirit’s haste
If you will listen better, your work will not be waste
For only when God leads you, can what you say work right
All that you speak without Him, will only spark more fights
Be “wrong,” without disciples, have none now shout, “Amen!”
Live for the confirmation of one eternal Friend

“The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:19)
