Forgotten Restingplace

Michael Beck

I told the Lord I wanted
He told me, “Do without.”
I told Him I was restless
He asked me, “What about?”
I told Him I was clueless
Nothing came to mind
He told me, Stop the searching
For something I’d not find
I asked what was the answer
Where would my longing cease?
He told me there was one place
Where I could find real peace
“Where is that, Lord?” I asked Him
“I’ll travel far and wide.”
“My child,” He gently whispered:
“It’s here right by My side.”

“My people hath been lost sheep … they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.” (Jeremiah 50:6)
