The strong must be broken
The wise become fools
The great turned to nothing
If God alone rules
Our strength is our weakness
Our wisdom – no light
Our boasting is folly
Except in our Christ
For Him to be mighty
Then we must be weak
Should He be our wisdom
Then we must be meek
Forward and hasty was never our Lord
Broken and contrite His eyes ever toward
His Father who made Him the Man we should be
So power and wisdom and glory we’d see
Don’t be afraid of the day you are weak
Nor walking in darkness, no light for your feet
If He is your trust then power He’ll give
He’ll lighten your eyes, in His favor you’ll live
Wait on your God when He brings you low
A lifted up spirit you never should know
For He will give glory and grace to all those
Whose faith is in Him, and in Him do repose
