“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13)
There is truth that the Spirit of truth would speak to us today. It is the “meat in due season” that will strengthen our soul for the toil of the day. As we walk through a dry and weary land, we live by every word God would say to us. And each word of truth we hear positions us to hear another word of truth. Word after life giving word is added to us until we are guided into all truth.
In the opposite way, the “father of lies” would lead us into all falsehood and error. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. To listen to his spin on anything is to begin a descent into darkness. His lies must be met with God’s truth. They cannot be allowed to stand.
Each day has its crossroads, where we are confronted with events that are happening around us, the affect they are having on us, and the response we will have towards them. Who will be our Shepherd, our Guide, to show us how to think and proceed? The Holy Spirit is willing to be right beside us to guide us aright. If we choose not to listen to Him, there is another who will take His place.
Let the Spirit of truth come to your heart and mind. Submit to His truth. Resist the devil’s “truth” and he will get the message – his advice is unwanted.
