“And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.” (Luke 19:8,9)
The effect of true salvation is that it repairs not only our relationship with God, but also with man. The man who has gotten right with God has an immediate desire to get right with his fellowman. The people he never bothered with, and didn’t care about, he now yearns to help (“the half of my goods I give to the poor.”) The people he has hurt and offended, he wants to go to and make amends with (“if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.”)
When salvation has come to a house, both God and man will know it!
