“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8)
The devil devours those who are not sober. When we are not sober we don’t see things as they really are. We think we see something which prompts us to think we need to do something. We become obsessed and oppressed and finally controlled by the enemy himself who calls us to action.
The world is becoming increasingly filled with intemperance and rage because they are drunk with their own high-minded delusions. They are given over to their own “truths” and are void of God’s mind and truth concerning the world around them. They make nothing better by their hellish actions.
We who call ourselves by the name of the Lord need to be careful that we don’t get swept up in the madness of our day. This is not a time for God’s people to try and understand where people are coming from. We need to help them see where God is coming from. Don’t enflame the problem with your sympathy. Put out the fire set by hell with wisdom from above. Only the truth can set us free.
