Room to Grow

Michael Beck

“For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” (Matthew 13:12)

Apollos was no slouch in the things of God. He was “instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord.” (Acts 18:25) But he was also a hungry and humble man who wanted to grow and gain more in God. When the Lord brought the godly couple, Aquila and Priscilla, across his path he was more than ready to receive. “… They took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” (Acts 18:26)

We all begin somewhere. We get what we get from those that surround us. Some things we take in have to be discarded later. Some things we were never taught we need to hear. The issue is whether we are open, teachable, and want to grow. The Lord always has means in store to satisfy the hunger of the righteous. No matter where we stand there should always be room in us to know “the way of God more perfectly.” Go forward.
