Morning Prayer

Michael Beck Michael Beck

“Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning” (Psalm 110:3)

Lord, a new day stands before me. I don’t know what this day may bring forth, but I am certain that nothing in it can separate me from Your love. This is the day which You have made and I will rejoice in it.

Before I take one step forward I dedicate myself to You. If You don’t go with me, I’d rather not get going. Give me courage for whatever will come my way, in the comfort of knowing I will not face it alone. You are my Good Shepherd who takes me forth into every new day, who leads me in paths of righteousness, and brings me home safely when the day is done.

Though I feel inadequate for the days labor, this is the day of Your power and I am willing to walk in the strength You would give me. The day is Yours and I belong to You in it. You have given me beautiful garments to put on in the morning and not take off until I go to sleep at night. No matter how difficult, demanding or dark this day may be, You call me to rise and shine for my Light has come and Your glory has risen upon me.

I worship You as my Lord, my Savior, my daily Portion, my glory and the lifter of my head. Your presence that goes with me is the reason for my Joy. You have promised that goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. You are my Refuge in every storm. You are my Strength in the most trying of days. Though there is no one else beside me, be my Helper today. Uphold me at my weakest moment.

Whatever this day may hold, it is my desire to remember You in all my ways, to cleave to You, and to worship You as I do right now.
