Hearing Always

Michael Beck

“Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.” (Luke 8:18)

Sheep need the continuous leadership of the Shepherd. From morning until evening they need to hear His voice. When we get saved the Lord becomes our shepherd and we become His sheep. No longer do we trust in ourselves, we trust in Him to guide us through every challenge of life. His Spirit is within us to instruct and teach us in the way we should go.

We are warned in scripture to make sure we are hearing the voice of the Spirit today. “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts …” (Heb. 3:7,8) There is manna to collect this morning. We cannot get by on yesterday’s word. We are called to: “Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” (1 Chron. 16:11) We live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. We can not only survive the harshest wildernesses, but we can thrive and grow in them if the Lord is our Shepherd and we are hearing His voice.

Make it the business of your life to hear from God. Cease from your own wisdom. Don’t lean on your own understanding. Let His thoughts replace your thoughts on any matter. Hear today, tomorrow, and forevermore. More is always on the way to those who have. Treasure the leadership of the Spirit in your life today.
