“… But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Philippians 3:13)
Some mourn the loss of what they once had and who they once were. Others mourn the opportunities they missed, the things they never did, the people they never became. We place ourselves on dangerous ground when we get down on ourselves. Worldly sorrow works death.
Satan is a cruel taskmaster. If he can’t get us to whip others, better yet, he’ll have us flogging ourselves. He is the Master of regret. To let him take us on a guided tour of our past will not brighten our day. If we are to face the future with hope and courage we must receive the new mercies that God would graciously extend to us today. God does not want us to be “down” on ourselves. Such is a deadly snare to fall into. God wants us to be “up” on Him, and what He is still able to do in our lives, if we will let Him.
There is no “reverse” when it comes to God. Get into gear and go forward!
