“Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.” (Psalm 119:161)
Who will harm you if you are a follower of that which is good? Make it the business of your life to love God and His Word. Diligently follow every good work. Cleave to that which is good. Abhor that which is evil. Don’t be afraid to stand up for what is right and denounce what is wrong. Hold no man’s person in admiration because of advantage. Rebuke Herod even if you endanger your head in doing so. Fear God more than man. Know that persecution will come, not only from the world, but from false brethren. Let the Lord be your light and your salvation and don’t fear what man can do to you. Make sure of one thing and one thing alone: that you are on God’s side. Because if God is for you, who can be against you? And if God is against you, who can be for you?
