Extract, Don’t Subtract

Michael Beck

“… If thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth” (Jeremiah 15:19)

It is the tactic of the enemy to sour us on vital truth because of the way it is twisted by some. The excesses of some advocates of holiness can cause a distaste for the holiness which God loves. (Mal. 2:11) Hyper-grace and hyper-faith teaching can cause precious truth concerning grace and faith to be neglected. Healings, miracles, and spiritual gifts, as taught and practiced by some, can cause men to treat such with scorn. But all these are to be valued and desired.

Don’t let those who misrepresent the things of God cause you to subtract them from God’s Word, lest you also fail to be His true representative. Extract the precious from the vile and you will be as His mouth. Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.
