Come!

Michael Beck

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)

The great proclamation of the gospel is that God has made a way for ALL to come to Him. Christ Himself came preaching this good news that He was sent into the world by the Father, not to condemn the world, but to bring salvation. This salvation is made available to all – to the Jew who was near; and to the Gentiles who were afar off. In that Christ died for all, all were dead – alienated from their Creator and not fit for an eternal relationship with a holy God. And nothing that anyone of us could do would repair this broken relationship.

The invitation must go out to “whosoever will.” Come! Come, no matter who you are, or what you’ve done. Come, though every man and devil tell you God doesn’t love or want you. Come, though your own conscience accuses you and you feel unworthy to receive such an invitation. The gospel of Jesus Christ proclaims – God made you! God loves you! God wants you! He has taken the initiative to mend the relationship. Before you love Him; He loves you. He isn’t waiting for you to change; He is waiting to change you. Before you give to Him, He wants to give to you. You cannot make yourself worthy of His salvation. It is a gift that is freely given to you. Christ has paid for it and it is now yours to receive.

Why stay out in the cold of a godless existence when God Himself is inviting you inside through the Door. Jesus said: “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved” (John 10:9) Come! Come now! There is no better time.
