“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
God has a way through any wilderness; solutions to any problem, comfort for any trial, a way of escape in any temptation. Like manna from heaven, wisdom comes from above. Are we looking above? Are we asking God daily for the “bread” we need to face today’s challenges? Are we hearing what the Holy Spirit has to say to us; or, are we leaning to our own understanding, and justifying some form of disobedience?
We live by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. To not hear His still, small voice that tells us: “This is the way, walk therein” is to invite destruction into our lives. Hearing from God is a matter of life and death. Draw near to God, with a heart ready to hear, receive, and follow His counsel to you. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Seek and you shall find His wonderful, life-preserving word.
