Victorious Faith

Michael Beck

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4)

You cannot walk in fear and faith at the same time. They are mutually exclusive of each other. God has not given His children a spirit of fear; but He has given us a spirit of faith. Indeed, He has given us more than our own faith, He has given us the faith of His Son to live by.

There is nothing in this life we should not face with confidence. If God be for us, who can be against us? We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. Who has believed His report? We have. And though the giants in the land would threaten to swallow us up alive, we declare by faith that we are well able to overcome them.

We are to take up the shield of faith that will quench every fiery dart of the wicked. We are to resist our enemy steadfastly in the faith. We are to know that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He would sow doubt and fear in our heart and mind. But our hearts and minds are kept as we turn to our mighty Lord and God and commit all into His faithful hands. He undertakes for us when we call upon Him to arise. We look at every “what if” and say “God will have His way and the final say because He alone is Lord.” We do not fear what men or devils can do to us. We do not tremble when we stand before Pilate because we know he has no power but what God would give him. We witness a good confession before every Pilate that would dare to claim that their power over our life is greater than the power of our God. We stand like the three Hebrew children before the raging king and we say: “Do what you will, we will not bow.” We serve notice on the devil that we will worship and serve God come what may. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Let us live and walk by this faith without fear for what the future holds. We know who holds our future, who will be with us in all our tomorrows, and who does not know how to fail or forsake us.
