Sometimes life takes a turn into a dark tunnel. Being there is not easy or pleasant. I could wish it had never happened, or would just end tomorrow and life could go back to where it was. I sigh, “Oh to once again be out in the light of a better day!”
But I am not my own; and I believe God has the right to use whatever He chooses, even what comes wrapped in an unpleasant package, for my ultimate good and His maximum glory. He has the right to make a tunnel long or short, according to His own infinite wisdom that is beyond my power to comprehend. He has the right to ignore my cries for a speedy exit and work in me through the experience a good vastly superior to all I am thinking good and pleading for.
Someone said, “Thank God for light at the end of the tunnel.” I answered: “Thank God for Light in the tunnel.” There are times when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it needs to be enough that our Jesus is with us through the darkest seasons of our life. If we belong to Him, nothing can separate us from His love or His careful and thoughtful involvement in our lives.
It is wonderful to have a strong hand to hold when we are afraid. I pray you will put your hand in His hand and let Him walk with you through whatever the future holds. If you let Him, He will uphold you and bring you closer to Him than ever before. His light and His love will be enough to brighten even the darkest tunnel you must still travel through.
“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.” (Psalm 139:7-12)
