“For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.” (Micah 4:5)
Before turning to the true and living God every person bows down to and serves various passions. Some love money, others seek fame. In the end, evidence proves whether we are lovers of our own pleasures, or lovers of God.
It is impossible to hide who you are in your heart of hearts. Men reflect their god. Sooner or later, what you’ve been worshipping comes to the surface. It is expressed for all to see. You wear your god.
Jesus put it bluntly, “You can’t serve God and mammon.” There is no such thing as hybrid worship in the kingdom of God. He is a jealous God. If He is not first, He is gone – “Ichabod!” Nominal worshippers are eventually found out because they begin to walk in the name of their god. Where there should have been glory, there is shame. Where there should have been godliness, there is worldliness. Where there should have been the fruits of the Spirit, there are the works of the flesh.
Corrupt trees cannot bring forth good fruit. Don’t be fooled by professions of faith. Devils also believe. By their fruits you shall know them.
