Prove Me Now

Michael Beck

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” (Malachi 3:10)

God has something to prove. He wants us to know who He is. He is a faithful, covenant-keeping God. He would display His mercy and His power. He would have us know there is nothing impossible for Him. But before He does anything for us, He wants us to trust Him, and simply do what He calls us to do. Trust and obey – there’s no other way.

Only those who trust and obey discover God’s open hand of provision. They see the Red Sea open before them. They have their cupboards miraculously filled. They are kept alive in a time of famine. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

If God makes a promise, He wants us to count Him faithful to keep it. He tells us that if we won’t believe we can expect nothing from Him. “For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord” (James 1:7)

God has no problem keeping His side of the covenant. His name is Faithful. The only question is: will we keep our side? Will we walk in faith and obedience? God wants to be put on the spot. He wants to prove Himself. Will you give Him the opportunity to do so? Do your part. Walk in faith. Walk in obedience. Discover what God has prepared for those who love Him.
