Poem

Lucifer Rising

Michael Beck

“Without wings,” I hear him say,
“You cannot fly, on earth you’ll stay
Beware the Voice which cripples you
So to yourself you’ll not be true.
A yoke was never meant for man.
Dream away! and break those bands
Imposed by all who have no right
To cramp your style and run your life.”

“Amen!” I hear the masses shout,
“Give us wings to fly about –
Where we will go, to what we want,
Before His face our freedom flaunt.
For who is He that we should hear
A voice against what we hold dear.
United, we refuse to bow;
Unto ourselves alone we’re vowed.”

“Well done!” the angel beams with pride,
“You all have followed in my stride,
Unafraid and unashamed,
To be yourselves and not be blamed.
Soon together we will rise
To rid our world of all the lies
Foretold by book not worth the read
And Son of God we all don’t need.”

But He who sits above now laughs
At men deceived by serpent’s craft.
His throne will never be usurped;
His Son will one day rule this earth.
And those who bow today their knee
Will reign with Him forever free
From wicked hosts that roam this sod
Who dare now think that they are God.
