Loving Obedience

Michael Beck Michael Beck

Do you hate the devil? You don’t if you love sin
You make him beam with pleasure, each time that you give in
He loves your soul to conquer, to him it’s all a game
If he can get you moving, he’ll start with smallest flame
With subtle lies he’ll trick you, with sweet treats he’ll seduce
Once he has sold his product, don’t think you will get loose
You say you do not love him, but if you do obey
Instead of God above you, you let him have his way
And he is glad to have you, another in his fold
A shepherd he will lead you, into a stranglehold
A night will fall upon you, as terrors sudden loom
The freedom you once relished, will turn to bondage soon
But if in such great darkness, and fear you will return
To God above who loves you, you’ll now begin to learn
That He alone gives freedom, the strength to do what’s right
And He alone can keep you, from taking smallest bite
For Jesus died to free you, from every chain of sin
And if you truly love Him, by grace you won’t give in
