Poem

Happy New Year?

Michael Beck Michael Beck

Where will the new year bring you, if God you leave behind?
What thrills will surely kill you, if all you have in mind
Is bowing to your pleasure, and what to you seems right
Be sure with such direction, your future won’t be bright

Rejoice this night and party, it’s time to celebrate
But soon you won’t be laughing, pierced through by Satan’s bait
For sin does have its pleasure, but when it’s through at last
Hell’s door will open to you, the good times will be past

The time to leave the party, the one that devils throw
Is now for all who listen, who choose with God to go
Into a joy filled future, which few on earth still find
Salvation’s door is open, but only for a time

So throw away what’s worthless, stop calling bitter sweet
Why do you hate what’s precious – your soul, that God could keep
Be wise and leave the party, before it is too late
If not, by this time next year, in hell, might be your date
