Poem

Blessed Thorn

Michael Beck Michael Beck

People come and people go, but each one God can use
A few are lights to be learned from, the rest He’ll teach you through
They’re all important, every one, for through them you can grow
The rose we like, the thorn we don’t, for it’s a source of woe
“Enough!” we say, “I cannot stand this constant source of pain
Deliver me to different place or I will go insane!”
But better place is nowhere else than dwelling in our Lord
Gaining through the trials we face a different kind of sword
For thorns imbedded in our flesh reveal our deepest need
To have much more of Jesus Christ, to know His grace indeed
So give God thanks for every one who’s in your life today
For when you bless the thorn itself toward growth you’re on your way
