Where Error Leads

“The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.” (Provebs 21:16)

The way of understanding is clearly laid out in the pages of scripture. “… Give me understanding according to thy word.” (Psalm 119:169) To disregard the plain teaching and clear commands found in the Word of God is to “wander out of the way of understanding.”

Throughout the history of the church, there have been those who have abandoned fidelity to God’s Word. Yet, they have continued to claim they are believers and lovers of Jesus Christ. In reality, they have denied Him. One cannot be true to the living Word while being unfaithful to the written Word.

The “congregation of the dead” is filling up today with those who have jettisoned the Bible as their infallible guide. The two issues of this day that divide the true church from those who have fallen away are abortion and homosexuality. The Bible unequivocally condemns the practice of both.

No matter how unpopular, it is time to stand for the truth of God’s Word. It is also time to have no fellowship with those who name the name of Christ but don’t depart from iniquity. The Lord does not recognize them as His, and neither should we.

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19)
