“My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words. Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.” (Psalm 119:139,140)
Run for your lives from those who in any way disparage the scriptures, who speak of bibliolatry, who pretend to care more about the spirit than the letter, who call those who search the scriptures, Pharisees, unable to recognize Jesus.
The god of this world is using these mockers to deceive the hearts of the simple. A generation ago, a similar crop of teachers called the Bible, the “black lids of death.” All this comes under the pretense of truly loving God and wanting to escape some false, sterile knowledge of God which those too beholden to the Bible are mired in.
Know this for certain, no man who does not have a deep, deep love and respect for God’s word, in all it says on every page, can ever truly know or love God. No man of God would ever, ever say one word to diminish anyone’s cherishing of scripture. This subtle move of the enemy is not the means by which God’s flock will come to know God in a greater way. It is the way in which an apostate church’s view of God will become more warped and aligned with the spirit of the age and the views of other religions.
Run from any and all who espouse the view that, “All truth is God’s truth.” Run from those who would make believers feel guilty in holding to an exclusive truth. Run from those who want to pick and choose what parts of the Bible, and what aspects of God’s nature, suits them. Run from those who in professing themselves to be wise have become fools, and who in seeking more light are only sliding into more darkness.
Do the very opposite of what the subtle words of these men recommend: love and honor the word of God with all the more fervent devotion. Determine to let all of God’s word shape your understanding of Him. Do not let those who misunderstand God because they fail to love His word, cause you to do the same.
