Safe in the Fear of God

Michael Beck Michael Beck

“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.” (Proverbs 14:26)

Balak discovered that he could not curse those whom God had blessed. Never fear men or what they can do to you. Jesus stared down a threatening Pilate and said, “You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above.” (John 19:11)

The words, the threats, the plots, the cursings of men all come to nothing when the Lord is on our side. If God be for us, who can be against us? The only thing we must make sure is that we are the Lord’s beloved. Our heart must be toward Him.

We will certainly provoke many to wrath when we walk in obedience to God. The darkness hates the light. Those who loved the darkness more than the light determined to kill Jesus. But He said that no man could take His life away from Him. His death would not be by the will of man, it would only be by the will of His Father. And when the Father told Him the time had come, He would lay down His life in obedience.

Do not live in the snare of the fear of man. Live in the confidence that walking in the fear of God brings. Expect to have enemies if you walk faithfully with God. Expect also that God will keep you as the apple of His eye, until He says it’s your time to go.

Let men talk. Know your God will have the final say.

“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.” (Proverbs 21:30)
