“Cease ye from man …” (Isaiah 2:22)
We are not enough for man and man is not enough for us. We fall short in their eyes and they fall short in ours. Our spiritual health depends on us seeing ourselves and seeing others through the eyes of God. It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of us if we are dwelling in the love of God. He makes up the difference between the love we needed and the love we received. And it does not matter what we think of anyone else. God would give us a heart of mercy even toward those who have most bitterly disappointed us.
We need God far, far more than we need each other. He is more than enough.
