A Life of Faith

Michael Beck Michael Beck

“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.” (Psalm 112:1,2)

The evidence of faith includes but goes beyond what we confess with our mouth. Hebrews 11 tells us that faith is demonstrated not only in single acts, but by the whole tenor of a life. Abraham’s faith was proven by a lifetime of faithful obedience.

Never feel you have to prove anything to men. You don’t even have to go out on some limb to show God your faith. Your simple obedience to what He wants you to do is proof enough of your faith. God is not looking for those who will get out of boats on their own initiative. He wants a people who will listen for His bidding. When we fear Him and greatly delight in His commandments, He will bless us greatly.

Sow to the Spirit and you will eventually reap of the Spirit. The rewards of a faithful life are not always immediately evident. Be content in the short-term to have righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Rom. 14:17) When we walk by faith and not by sight, we move in the confident expectation that God will be true to His Word. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
